Windows 7 machines not able to assign a static IP. DHCP works fine
When I set a static IP to a windows 7 machine on our Domain I get an IP confict error. I have double checked and there is no duplication going on. This is happening on several computers and the only common denominator is they are all running

Hey Chris check your logs or try disabling ipv6 on the nic if your network is not using ipv6.

There could be a loop in your network that is causing the Windows 7 machines to beleiving there is another machine on the network with a duplicate IP. Check to see if your network admins have spanning tree enabled on their switches.Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Given the widespread use uPnP the need for static addresses is not needed.
My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT
